“GOPA” stands for Goud Officials and Professionals Association. This is a state level voluntary organization. The basic objective of this association has been the promotion of alround development which mainly includes the fields of Education, Employment, Socio and Financial development of the Goud community under the support of the intellectual elite members of this association.
Initially the then founding fathers started this association under the title
“GOUD WELFARE ASSOCIATION” during 1974. Later, on 12th April 1975 under the chairmanship of the then MLA Sri Vanga Subba Rao this association was renamed as Goud Officials and Professionals Association”, A.P. This was registered during 1975 with registration No. 625/1975.
GOPA, of late has been playing a key role in representing and organizing on crucial issues of BC’s before various state, national and international forums. Apart from this awarding “Gold Medals” to meritorious students of different disciplines, organizing community lunch during the month of “Kartheekam” for encouraging fraternity and awarding prizes to winners in various games, sports, cultural and other similar competitions organized in this context for various age groups to promote competitive spirit have been the activities of GOPA.
GOPA new Committee Constituted Dr. T. Yadaiah as President and conducted the 21st Karthika Vana Bhojana Programme at Indira Park on 09-12-2002 where in as many as Three thousand members from all over the State participated. On 29-01-2002, the E.C. meeting under the chairmanship of Dr. Yadaiah Goud held at Nizam Club took decision to run the organization in future. Total life members of GOPA are 955 as on today. Later E.C. meeting were held at Goud Hostel for every two months periodically and the 22nd K.V.B. programme held on 1st Dec. 2002 at Indira park. Our leaders Sri T. Bala Goud attended the morning session and while our Home Minister Sri T. Devender Goud attended the felicitation and prizes distribution programme which was conducted at Mudupu chandraiah Garden near Indira park.
GOPA with the help of Goud Hostel Management committee conducted personality development programme in Goud Hostel. The total programme training was given by our GOPA members Sri Y.Satyanarayana , Sri Tirumala Kumar and Dr. Vijaya Laxmi, most of the students of our community utilized the choice given by our elders.
GOPA units at the district levels like Khammam, Mahaboobnagar, Karimnagar, Warangal, Janagaon, Nalgonda, kunrool are working properly. All the District Units are doing well for the development of our caste particularly for students and employees.
GOPA sponsored Mr Gundarai kiran kumar Goud from Mahaboobnagar to participate in Annual Conference & Exposition Monteral, Quebee, Canada from 16-19 June 2002 for paper submission on the topic “Exploitation of Nuclear Energy for Electrical Utility” a sum of Rs. 52000/- was collected from different personalities for this purpose which made him to success in the seminar which fetched him an opportunity to work at U.S.A.
The other contribution of GOPA are that Mr R. Srinivas Goud and Mr. P. Sunil Goud who got admission M.Sc.(Ic) O.U. and M.Sc. Biotechnology, O.U. were sponsored for their studies. A student of Intermediate Mr Srinivas Goud from Nalgond, died on 24-06-2002 in the hands of owner under whom he was doing a park-time job, GOPA protested the incident by staying Dharna at Indira park and submitted memorandum to the Government and the Government helped by providing some mandatory benefits of family members of the deceased.
GOPA made request to the NRIs and collected amounts for Goud Hostel Library and poor students educational expenses.
The motor vehicle inspectors encouraged one lady student by contributing for MBBS course at Kakatiya Medical College, Warangal, for 5 years, who hails from Nalgonda District.
In the regime of Dr. Saibaba Goud, who worked as chairman as well as president for state GOPA for a long time and introduced so many reforms to the Association for the development and introduced many activities and encouraged to from district units in various places in Andhra Pradesh.
